CHAPTER 31 VISUAL LABS — boards 31a and 31b

These are original fictional teaching examples. Work locally.
Read the named boards first. Predict before running, and explain any
difference before changing a second thing.

HOW TO REPRODUCE
For board 31a, open draft-guide.html in a text editor and find the noindex
meta element inside head. Opening this local file proves neither public
accessibility nor processing by Google. For each row in board 31a, explain
whether a cooperating crawler could obtain the HTML instruction.

For board 31b, open a terminal in companion/web and run:
node redirect_server.cjs
Open http://127.0.0.1:8766/old-guide in a browser. It ends at /stock-guide
and displays Office stock planning guide. In developer tools Network,
enable Preserve log and request the old URL again. Expect 301 with
Location: /stock-guide, then a separate 200 response. observations.csv
records these expected local results; it is not a crawl of a real site.
Stop the server with Ctrl+C when finished.

CHANGE / PREDICT / CHECK
Change the browser address to http://127.0.0.1:8766/missing.
Predict first: 404 and Page not found, with no destination change.
Now restore /old-guide and verify the two-step route again.
Pencil task: if /stock-guide redirected back to /old-guide, the result
would be a loop, not a final guide. Canonical HTML alone would not cause
that browser navigation. No live site or search settings are changed.
