CHAPTER 02 VISUAL LAB - Follow an enquiry across systems
Book boards: 02a and 02b

PRACTICE ROUTINE
Cover the board answer. Predict aloud, try the example, compare with the
stated result, change one input, and try again. Explain a discrepancy
before changing another thing. All marketing examples are fictional.

Use boards 02a and 02b. No code or access to a real business system is needed.

REPRODUCE 02a
Draw four labelled cards: page, submitted form, saved enquiry, purchase.
Write Sam's request for twelve desks on the form card. Put identifier 104
on the saved-enquiry card. Describe the evidence needed for each connection.
A displayed thank-you message does not by itself prove a purchase exists.

REPRODUCE 02b
Write four period totals with their nouns: 1,000 visits, 80 submissions,
60 distinct enquiries and 12 purchases. Under each, explain what the item
represents. Do not silently replace these nouns with customers.

CHANGE, PREDICT, CHECK
Sam clicks Submit twice on 10 September, the system stores one enquiry, and
a linked purchase occurs on 15 October. Predict the counts and month labels.
Answer: two clicks, one enquiry and one purchase. The enquiry belongs in a
September enquiry report; the purchase belongs in an October purchase report.
A September-enquiry follow-up report can include that later purchase if its
cutoff covers 15 October and its linkage and counting rules are explicit.

EXPLAIN YOUR RESULT
You cannot infer that 18 enquiries were lost merely from 50 clicks and
32 CRM enquiries. First check exactly which action each system counted,
which dates were included, and how duplicates and failed submissions behave.
